My beloved brother! Practising complete Islaam is certainly the key to our success in this world and the Hereafter. Islaam has provided us with the solution to problems in every sphere of our lives. Without doubt, the road to saving ourselves is simple and as clear as daylight – and it is to keep ourselves far away from such grievous sins.

The following are some methods, the adoption of whom will enable and help you to do this:

1 Make tawbah (sincere repentance) to Allah and turn to Him submissively.

2 Stay away from the conlpany of evil people or friends who glamourise and glorify those deeds and things that are sinful and make them appeal to you. The company that the youth keep plays the greatest role in either reforming or corrupting them. Therefore, choose for yourself the company of righteous people who will be of help and benefit to you in matters of your Deen as well as your worldly affairs.

3 Keep yourself away from all those things that arouse the passions. Refrain even from looking at beardless, young lads or even their pictures. This will include the viewing of all types of films, magazines, etc. as you will find them invariably brimming with such pictures.

4 Make every effort to get married in order to remain pure and chaste and respond to the call of our beloved Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam who has said, “0 assembly of youth! Those of you who have the means to get married, should do so. And whoever is unable to do so, must keep fasts, for this is certainly a protection for him.” Bukhaari,Muslim

5 Fast excessively in order to suppress the carnal desires. Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam has said, “Certainly Shagtaan circulates in (the body ofl man like theflowing of blood. So, subdue him by keeping fasts.” Bukhaari

6 Spend your spare time in activities that will benefit you in some way, because the mind of an idle person becomes the target of sinful thoughts whispered by Shaytaan and your nafs (the driving force towards evil found within human beings).
