TAWASSUL AND DUA


DIFFERENCES IN THE UMMAT AND SIRAAT-E- MUSTAQEEM, Fiqh

A delicate point and issue arises as to the validity of making tawassul (means of mediation) by using the names Nabi (sallAllaahu alaihi wasallam) and or pious predecessors. My opinion on this matter is that it is permissible to use Nabi (sallAllaahu alaihi wasallam), Ambiyaa (alaihimus salaam), the Sahaabah-e-Kiraam (radhiAllaahu anhum) or any other pious predecessor as a means of mediation in dua. The manner of doing this will be to say: O Allaah! Through the mediation of so and so pious accepted servant of yours, accept my dua, or fulfil my certain need.

Q. 1. “During your last visit to Toronto, Canada, (December, 94), we had the oppotunity to see the Maple Lodge Chicken staughter house. Based on yours and Mufti Rafi Usmani’s observations, please answer the following questions:

a) Can the Chicken slaughtered and prepared under current conditions be considered Halal?

b) if the answer to A is no or doubtful, what are the changes that may be necessary to make it acceptable as Halal?

c) Should the suggested changes be implemented, what will be the monitoring mechanism for continued acceptance?

Allah Most High says,

“The adulterer cannot have sexual relations with any but an adulteress or an idolatress, and the adulteress, none can have sexual relations with her but an adulterer or an idolater; to the believers such a thing is forbidden.” (An-Nur: 3)

On the authority of ‘Abdullah Ibn ‘V mar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (pbuh) said,

“Three persons shall not enter Paradise: The one who is disobedient to his parents, he who lets his wife to fornicate with another, and the woman who imitates men.”( Hakim)

SALAAT WITH JAMA’AT (CONGREGATION)

1. Offering salaat with jama’at is wajib according to some ulama, and
sunnat-e-mu’akkadah according to others. This will be discussed in more detail,
Insha Allah.

2. To offer salaat with jama’at means that at least two people must get together
and offer their salaat in such a way that one person leads the salaat and the
other person follows him. The person who leads the salaat is called the imam,
and the person who follows him is called the muqtadi.
