THE TREATMENT (Part 03)

4. LOWERING THE GAZE

The temptation to look at that which Allah Ta’ala has forbidden is the root of all evil desires. Ibne Qayyim (Rahmatullahi alaihi) writes: “The gaze is the prowler and the messenger of desires. Its protection is, in reality, the protection of the private-parts. The person who does not control his gaze throws himself into the places of destruction. Allah has made the eyes the mirror of the heart.

THE TREATMENT (Part 02)

2. FASTING (SAUM)

Our Trustworthy Advisor, Rasulullah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) has directed those persons who are unable to marry and bear its burden to fast. Nabi (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “0 Group of youth! Those amongst you who have the ability to marry should marry because it lowers the gaze and protects the private parts. And those who cannot marry should fast because fasting breaks desires.”

The Woman who only spoke Quran

An elderly Arab lady was sitting alone at the trunk of a tree and Abdullah bin Mubarak also happened to pass that way. Seeing this lady in distress, he spoke to her. The discussion is recorded as follows:

Abdullah bin Mubarak: Asalamu alaykum wa Rahmatullah.

The lady: The word from a merciful Lord is peace [Ya Sin 36/58]. She meant that the reply of salaam is from Allah, Most High, Himself. She said further: Those whom Allah sendeth astray, there is no guide for them. [Araaf 7/186]. She meant that she had lost her way.

Saying bismillah (in the name of ALLAH) before meals

Amr bin Salma (Radi Allaahu Ta’ala Anhu) once came to the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) when meals had just been served to him. The Prophet said, “Come closer, son, and saying Bismillah (in the name of ALLA.AH) commence eating with the right hand from before you.” [Shama’il-e-Tarmizi]

There is unanimous agreement (amongst the theologians) that saying Bismillah before taking a meal is a Sunnah but eating food with the right hand is a Sunnah according to majority of them while some of them hold it to be a wajib (obligatory). It has been commissioned by the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) that one should eat and drink with his right hand for Satan eats and drinks with the left hand. [Khasail-e-Nabawi]

63) Feeling Secure from Allah’s Devising

Allah, Most High says,

{Until, in the midst of their enjoyment of our gifts, on a sudden We called then to account, when lot They were plunged in despair!} (Al-An’am: 44)

This means that the punishment occurs suddenly while they are heedless. Al-Hasan said, whoever is blessed but unaware of Allah’s decision he is heedless, and whoever is afflicted but unaware of Allah’s trials is also heedless. Then he read the above Ayah and said, these people are put into devising as they got all what they need and then taken suddenly.

1. GOOD INTENTION

Intention is an alchemic prescription that can turn base dirt into noble gold. The hadith says “All actions depends upon intentions.” It is sometimes interpreted to mean that good intentions justify bad deeds too and turn sins meritorious. This is entirely wrong. Sin is always a sin no matter how noble the intention may be. For instance if someone breaks into a house to steal with the intention of giving away as alms whatever he would steal would be a thief deserving the prescribed punishment. His good intentions would not earn him any merit nor would his sin be pardoned.

51) Overburdening and Arrogance against others

This includes overbearing the weak, the male slave, the female slave, the wife and the beast. Allah, the Almighty ordered us to deal in kindness towards these varieties. He said,

{Serve Allah and join not any partners with Him, and do good to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, those in need, neighbors who are of kin, neighbors who are strangers, the companion by your side, the way-fairer( ye meet) and what your right hands possess: for Allah loveth not the arrogant, the vainglorious} (An-Nisa’: 36)

Concerning Allah’s saying,

{Serve Allah, and join not any partners with Him}
