Mankind’s Debt To The Prophet Part 1

In certain parts of the world, people enjoy freedom of conscience and choice, are free to lead their lives in peace and amity, to devote their energies to teaching and preaching, researching and making new discoveries. Yet even these parts of the world have not always been so tolerant, nor free from strife, nor disposed towards the co-existence of different peoples, sects and groups, still less sufficiently broad-minded, to accommodate differences of opinion.

Mankind has seemed, many times, to be bent upon self-destruction, and passed through stages when, by its own misdeeds, it has forfeited any right to survival. Men have sometimes behaved like crazed and ferocious beasts, flinging all culture and civilization, arts, literature, decency, the canons of moral and civil law, to the winds.

The Mode Of Tawaf

Tawaf (Circumambulation) means turning round and round something but in the terminology of Shari’at one’s going round the Holy Ka’ba seven times with the intention of Tawaf is called ‘Tawaf’. One complete circuit is named as ‘Shaut’. Circumambulating any thing or place other than ‘Baitullah’ is unlawful. For ‘Tawaf’, intention is obligatory. Without defining an intention ‘Tawaf’ will stand unobserved, in whatever number the circuits may be completed. The intention for Tawaf, is to be pronounced with these words :-

“O Allah ! I intend Tawaf for the sake of Thy pleasure; Render it easy for me and accord it Thy approval”.

Entrance In To The Holy City Of Makkah

Rule Of Action
Taking a bath before entering the Holy place of Mecca is a tradition of the Holy Prophet. This tradition can stand followed if, nowadays, a person takes a bath on taking a start from Jedda because nowadays, on account of motor vehicles this distance is covered in a very short time. On entering Mecca he should at first look after his luggage and manage his lodging so that his mind does not remain attached therewith. Thereafter he should come in ‘Masjid-e-Haram.

His humor

Although an atmosphere of sobriety, seriousness and solemnity always prevailed in the assemblies of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) so much so that his noble Companions used to say: We sit in his company with such reverence and solemnity as if birds had perched on our heads and would fly away if we made even a slight movement. Yet flashes of the Prophet’s humor would keep the session agreeable, for if on the one hand, he would be preaching in keeping with the apostolic mission, on the other he would mix with his companions freely like an informal friend and a good humored fellow. While his assemblies had for the most part an atmosphere of a religious training centre and an institution of learning, they would sometimes turn for a little while into a gathering of witty but dignified and well mannered friends exchanging bits of humor and narrating every day affairs of home life. Briefly the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) and his companions would discuss matters freely among themselves. We have to find out as to what the nature of his humor had been. This elucidation is necessary as due to following incorrect line of action in many matters, our views have undergone a change. Our thinking has gone astray and we have lost moderation in all matters, when we make ourselves serious and grave, we go to such an extent as to shun all wit and humor and if we assume pleasing dispositions, we go to such an extreme as to abandon all decorum and etiquette. As such in the Noble example of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) we have the best standard for us to follow. He has himself clarified his own humor. “Do you cut jokes (with us)? Asked his companions. The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) said,”l say nothing but truth” [Shamail-e-Tirmizi]

When Unaware of Allah’s Might

But surely, if my assets were taken to Quetta by a person whom I do not even know, do not know his influences and am unaware of his might; then, no doubt there will be disgruntlement inside me ready to tear me apart. Therefore when we are unaware of Allah’s might and are negligent of Him then there explode sparks of awful agitation within us. And then, if Allah takes away something; the heart will definitely ache in disapproval, echoing blows of who took it…
