About the dressing of his hair (head)

When he would get his head shaved, he would get the whole of it shaved or retain the hair on the whole head. He did not do so that a part of it was shaved and the remaining part was left unshaved. [Zadul Ma’ad]

Hadrat lbn Abbas (Radi Allaahu Ta’ala Anhu) narrated that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) used to trim the moustache. [Zadul Ma’ad]

In a number of traditions, Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) has commanded growing of beard and has impressed the trimming of moustache. The majority of theologians have held that clipping the moustache is sunnah but clipping should be done in a manner resembling shaving. [Khasail-e-Nabawa]

54) Harming the Servants of Allah

Allah the Almighty has said,

{And those who annoy believing men and women undeservedly, bear (on themselves) a calumny and a glaring sin.} (Al-Ahzahb: 58)

Allah also said,

{And lower thy wing to the believers who follow thee.} (Ash-Shu’ara’: 216)

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said,

“Allah said (in a Qudsi hadith), “He who is hostile to a friend of Mine, I declare war against. In another narration, “Then I apprise him with a war.” (Bukhari)

In another hadith, it is reported that,

The Sign of Allah Being There In Our Lives

Moreover, the sign of Allah being there in our lives is that come what may, first and foremost the attention goes onto Him alone. Like a child who gets hurts while playing round the avenue and cries out for his mother (although his mother is nowhere near him at the spot). But this is because it is subscribed there in his heart that my safe haven is my mother. Likewise, a Momin too immediately calls out onto Allah, goes in Sajdah, rings the call and makes a connection. That is also what the customs of our predecessors portray that where they heard lightening and thunder strike, they used to assemble in the masjids. Where they foresaw a mishap, they went into prostration. Where they had a storm in their lives they started knocking at the door of their merciful Lord.

098 The Clear Proof (Rukuh 01) (Ayats 01-08)

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

With the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful.

[98:1] Those who disbelieved from among the People of the Book and the polytheists were not (expected) to desist (from their wrong beliefs) unless there comes to them a clear proof,

رَسُولٌ مِنْ اللَّهِ يَتْلُوا صُحُفاً مُطَهَّرَةً (2)

[98:3] containing (right and) straight writings.

Chapter 09 DOUBTS & OBJECTIONS ON TAQLEED Part 01

Taqleed of Forefathers in The Qur’an

1. The first objection is that the Qur’an has condemned taqleed:

“And when it is said to them, “follow that which Allah has revealed”, they say, “Nay, we follow that (way whereon we found our fathers.” What! Even though their fathers understood not anything, nor were they rightly guided.” (2:170)

Foreward

There is no dearth of books on the subject of taqleed and ijtihad, and I had no idea that I would be writing anything on it. However, certain reasons compelled me to write down this treatise.

When, in 1963, the editor of ‘Faran’, Mahir ul-Qadri, suggested that I should contribute an article on taqleed, I was disinclined to engage in debate on the question, as, indeed, my respected father, Maulana Mufti Muhammad Shafi, always kept himself away from it. However, I acceded to his request in the hope that I might explain the issue and invite the warring parties to think coolly and cease to argue.
