Wealth and Society Part 01

Zakat, which Islam has enjoined upon Muslims, marks the lowest limit of the expression of human sympathy, kindness and compassion. It is a duty, the disregard or violation of which is not in any circumstances tolerable to God. The Shariah is emphatic in its insistence upon its observance. It has prescribed it as an essential requirement of Faith for Muslims.

But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then they are your brethren (Al-Tawba:11)

Propagating, Publicising and informing on Jihad

During the training and education of the members, the emphasis should not only be on their spiritual enhancement but it should also be on the enhancement of their mental agility and brightness.

There are certain groups in the Ummah, who put all the emphasis on the spiritual enhancement, they rigorously pursue the sittings of the ZikrulLah and the Muraaqebah, but sadly their minds become void of the longing for the greatness of Islam and the concern for the protection of Muslims. They consider it as a sin even to talk about the problems facing the Muslims and they regard the practical establishment of Islam as a waste of time.

Jinayat Pertaining To Sai

Rule Of Action
If a complete Sa’i or a most number of its rounds is either abandoned without any excuse or performed while riding, Hajj will stand accomplished. The Dam as well will be eliminated on revision of the Sa’i on foot. If this observance of Sa’i while riding was out of some excuse, nothing would be Wajib. If only one or two or three rounds of a Sa’i are abandoned or are observed while riding without any excuse, one Sadaqa for each round will be obligatory (Ghunya).

1. GOOD INTENTION

Intention is an alchemic prescription that can turn base dirt into noble gold. The hadith says “All actions depends upon intentions.” It is sometimes interpreted to mean that good intentions justify bad deeds too and turn sins meritorious. This is entirely wrong. Sin is always a sin no matter how noble the intention may be. For instance if someone breaks into a house to steal with the intention of giving away as alms whatever he would steal would be a thief deserving the prescribed punishment. His good intentions would not earn him any merit nor would his sin be pardoned.

SOME IMPORTANT POINTS

Only those deeds have been discussed here that do not involve any significant labour or difficulty but earn much merit and reward. The purpose is to awaken in the hearts of the readers the urge to follow and observe them and increase their store of goodness for the Afterlife. However, it is necessary to remember the following points when reading this book:

51) Overburdening and Arrogance against others

This includes overbearing the weak, the male slave, the female slave, the wife and the beast. Allah, the Almighty ordered us to deal in kindness towards these varieties. He said,

{Serve Allah and join not any partners with Him, and do good to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, those in need, neighbors who are of kin, neighbors who are strangers, the companion by your side, the way-fairer( ye meet) and what your right hands possess: for Allah loveth not the arrogant, the vainglorious} (An-Nisa’: 36)

Concerning Allah’s saying,

{Serve Allah, and join not any partners with Him}

INTRODUCTION

Allah has created this world so that creatures living here may, through good actions, provide for the Hereafter and do deeds that may earn for them Divine pleasure.

However, we become so engrossed in the affairs of worldly life that we become oblivious of the true purpose of this life. So every living moment from morn till eve is spent in making earthly life better and more and more pleasant. In this struggle there are few of Allah’s bondsmen who think of bettering their lot in the Hereafter, although it is an established fact, which even the most hardened atheist cannot deny, that everyone has to leave this world one day and none knows exactly when the summons would come.

NATHR I’TIKAF

(1) I’tikaf of Nathr is an I’tikaf undertaken as a result of a vow made to Allah Ta’ala.

(2) The validity of Nathr I’tikaf requires the verbal expression of the Niyyat or intention. It is, therefore, essential to verbally say, for example:

“I am undertaking (or making) I’tikaf for Allah Ta’ala for three days”,,

or any other similar statement in which it is declared that I’tikaf has been undertaken or is presently being undertaken. The expression of an intention should not relate to the future, e.g. “It is my intention to perform I’tikaf”, etc.

CATEGORIES OF SAUM

There are two categories of Saum, viz.,

1. Wajib

2. Nafl

(1) WAJIB CATEGORY

The word ‘Wajib’ here means ‘essential’ or ‘necessary’. It does not refer to the technical meaning of the Fiqhi term, Wajib, the definition of which appears at the end of this book under the title: Necessary Technical Terms of Fiqh.

The category of Wajib Saum includes all forms of compulsory fasts -both Fardh and Wajib.

The Wajib category is sub-divided into two classes of Saum, viz.

1. Saum related to time.
