Aayat Number One

“Pilgrimage to the House (of Allah) is a duty man owes to Allah upon those who can afford the journey.”

The ulama inform us that Hajj became obligatory when this verse was revealed. When we look at the verse we see a lot of emphasis and stress. Let us study it:

Firstly, we find a Laam on the word of Allah (Lillaahi) which lays emphasis on the fact that Hajj is obligatory. (see Allama Ainy)

‘Alan-naas’ is another term that denotes extreme emphasis.

Rules Concerning Recitation of the Quran

1. It is wajib to recite the Quran correctly. Every
letter should be pronounced correctly. Just as there are differences in
pronouncing the “ain” and “hamza”, there are similar differences
in pronouncing the following letters:

wpe54.jpg (2236 bytes)

wpe51.jpg (1209 bytes)
wpe50.jpg (974 bytes)
wpe4F.jpg (1462 bytes)

wpe4E.jpg (1561 bytes)

All these have to be pronounced correctly and no letter
should be pronounced in place of another.

2. If a person is unable to pronounce a particular letter
correctly, it is incumbent on him to practise pronouncing it correctly. If he
does not make an effort to pronounce it correctly, he will be a sinner and no
salaat of his will be correct. However, even if he is unable to correct himself
after making concerted efforts, then there is no compulsion.
