Congregrational Prayer Of Women

Q. Are women allowed to participate in congregational prayer led by a male? if it is allowed where they should stand? Similarly, is it allowed for women to arrange their own congregational prayer led by a female and participated by women exclusively? If it is allowed, what shall be the arrangement of the rows? Please also mention whether such type of congregational prayer can be held in the mosque or in the home. If it is possible for women to participate in a congregational prayer held in a mosque, how should a women observe the injunctions relating to Hijab?

Concise and foremost counsels Part 5

Hadrat Anas (Radi Allaahu Ta’ala Anhu) addressed Abu Zarr saying, “Shall I not tell you two traits of character which are light on the back (i.e. it is not cumbersome to cultivate them) and will be very heavy in the scale of ALLAH.” Abu Zar (Radi Allaahu Ta’ala Anhu) says that he said, “O Messenger of ALLAH! Do tell me these two traits of character”. The Messenger of ALLAH (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, “The habit of remaining mostly silent and secondly pleasing disposition. I swear by ALLAH in whose possession is my soul, in human actions these two things have no parallel”. [Ma’ariful Hadis]

Remembrance of death

In a lengthy tradition, Hadrat Abu Sa’d al-Kudri narrated that one day, the Messenger of ALLAH came to the mosque from his home for performing Salaah and he saw people looking as if they were bursting into laughter (in the mosque) (and this was the sign of excessive carelessness). So the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) said (for their guidance), “If you were to keep much in remembrance death which is the cutter-off of pleasures it would distract you from what I see. So keep death much in remembrance. [Jam-e-Tirmiz, Ma’arif-ul-Hadis]

Belief in pre-destination is also an article of faith

Hadrat Abu Khizamah (Radi Allaahu Ta’ala Anhu) narrated on the authority of his father, who said, “I asked the Messenger of ALLAH, “What have you to say about incantation and charms to which we resort to in relieving our pains and ailments and about medicines which we use during illness as also the devices that we employ for our protection. Do these repel the Divine Decree? The Apostle of ALLAH replied, “All these things are also by Divine Decree.” [Musnad Ahmad, Tirmizi, Ibn-e-Majah, Ma’arif-ul-Hadis]

His routine about traveling

When the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) would himself set out or send someone, on a journey, he thought Thursday as an appropriate day for departure. While traveling he moved his mount at a high speed and when the distance was long, he moved still more quickly. During journey his noble habit was to leave the camping place early in the morning and howsoever short the stopover was, he would not resume the journey unless he had offered two rakaat of prayer. Whenever anybody returned from a Journey and came to meet him the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) would embrace him and kiss on his forehead. [Zadul Ma’ad]

Interest in poetry

Hadrat Jabir bin Samura (Radi Allaahu Ta’ala Anhu) narrated that he had hundred occasions to sit in the company of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) when the Companions recited verses and told tales of the Days of Ignorance. The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) did not stop them (from doing so). He listened to them silently but sometimes laughed with them. [Shamail-e-Tirmizi]

Amr Bin Ash-Shard reported his father as saying; One day when I was riding behind the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) I recited hundred verses of Umayya bin Abus Salts’ poetry. On every verse I recited, he told me to go on. In the end he told me, ‘He was about to accept Islam.” [Shamail-e-Tirmizi, Mishkat]

Hadith Number One

Hazrat Ibn Abbas R.A. reports that the Messenger of Allah said: “One hundred and twenty mercies descend upon the Ka’ba every day and night; sixty for those performing tawaaf, forty for those performing salaah and twenty for those merely looking at Ka’ba”.
Here we are told that merely looking at the Ka’ba is a form of Ibaadah. Hazrat Saeed ibn Musayyib R.A. the well known. Tab’iee used to say that whoever merely looks at the Ka’ba with complete faith, becomes so cleansed of his sins as the day he was born.

Tawaf-e-Wida

For the inhabitants outside the boundaries of Miqat it is Wajib that at the time of their departure from Makkah they perform a parting Tawaf. (Tawaf-e-Wida). This is the last Wajib of Hajj and all three kinds of Hajj are like in this respect, as it is Wajib for one who performs any kind of Hajj. This Tawaf is not however Wajib for the people of Haram and the inhabitants of inside the boundaries of Miqat.

The 2nd Wajib of 10th ZilHijja

The Rami At Jamrat-Ul-Aqaba
Today on reaching Mina, the first thing to do is the Rami at Jamarat-ul-Aqaba which is Wajib on this very day. It may please be noted that there are three such places in Mina which are called as Jamarat. Seven pebbles are pelted on each of these Jamarat. The first Jamra is near the mosque of Mina i.e. Masjid-e-Khaif. It is called Jamrat-ul-’Ola. The 2nd Jamra is next to the first and is called Jamrat-ul-Aqaba is situated at the end of Mina. Today on the 10th Zilhijja, you are to perform Rami with seven pebbles on Jamrat-ul-Aqaba only. Rami literally means pelting of stones or pebbles. This Rami is observed as a memorial of that approved action of Hazrat Ibrahim (Abraham) which he did at the time he took his son Hazrat Isma’il (Ishamel) for offering him as sacrifice and the satan tried to mislead him. At that time Hazrat Ibrahim repelled the satan by throwing pebbles at him.

Waqof-e-Arafat

The literal meaning of Waqof is to stay. The stay at Arafat for a while from the time after Zuhr (Midday) on the 9th of Zilhijja up to the daybreak (on the 10th) is the basic fundamental of Hajj. It is Wajib to stay at Arafat till sunset of the 9th. It is Mustahab to take a bath before moon but if it is difficult, making an ablution only will also suffice. Being so prepared a pilgrim should go to Masjid-e-Namira. Here the Imam-ul-Muslimin (The leader i.e., ruler of the Muslims) or his vicegerent will deliver the 2nd Khutba of Hajj which is Sunnat, not Wajib. He will then lead the congregation of Zuhr and Asr prayers taking them togather in the time of Zuhr. In this case two Sunnat prayers of Zuhr will be abandoned.
Rule Of Action
On the day of Arafa in Arafat, this combining of Zuhr and Asr prayers togather in the time of Zuhr is Sunnat or Mustahab but this is subject to the condition that you are wearing the Ihram of Hajj and the prayers are performed in the leadership of Imam-
ul-Muslimin or his vicegerent. Firstly Zuhr and then Asr prayers are to be performed separately.
