Rajab is the seventh month in the Islamic lunar calendar. This month was regarded as one of the sacred months (Al-Ashhur-al-hurum) in which battles were prohibited in the days of the Holy Prophet . It is also a prelude to the month of Ramadan, because Ramadan follows it after the intervening month of Sha’ban. Therefore, when the Holy Prophet  sighted the moon of Rajab, he used to pray to Allah in the following words:

“O Allah, make the months of Rajab and Sha’ban blessed for us, and let us reach the month of Ramadan (i.e. prolong our life up to Ramadan, so that we may benefit from its merits and blessings).”  Read more... (3398 words, estimated 13:36 mins reading time)

His principle in the matter of dress was convenience and informality. He would put on what was available and was not at all formal about it, i.e. he never cared for any particular kind or quality of clothing and under no circumstances, for fine and expensive one. He contented himself with what ever met the need for clothing. His dress consisted generally of a wrap or mantle and an IZAR (lower garment) made of coarse cloth. He is reported to have worn woolen clothing also. It has been narrated that his wrap was full of patches. Allah likes his bondsmen to pray to Him. If a man, however beneficent he may be, is again and again asked for anything, he sooner or later loses his patience and becomes angry. But Allah, on the contrary, is, pleased the more his bondsmen ask him.

Intention is an alchemic prescription that can turn base dirt into noble gold. The hadith says “All actions depends upon intentions.” It is sometimes interpreted to mean that good intentions justify bad deeds too and turn sins meritorious. This is entirely wrong. Sin is always a sin no matter how noble the intention may be. For instance if someone breaks into a house to steal with the intention of giving away as alms whatever he would steal would be a thief deserving the prescribed punishment. Hymns of Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) are enough and so is ALLAAH’s praise for His prophet.
