lstakharah Salaah (Salaah for seeking guidance)

1. Mas’la: Whenever one intends to do something, one should take guidance from ALLAH. Seeking guidance from ALLAH is called istikharah. This has been exhorted in a number of traditions the Prophet has said that not seeking guidance from ALLAH through lstikhara is nothing but ill luck and wretchedness. So before taking a decision on a proposal for marriage or before setting out on a journey or undertaking any other important assignment, one should seek guidance from ALLAH through lstikharah Salaah. WITAR SALAAH (WAJIB)

Hadrat Kharija bin Huzafa told of Allah’s Messenger coming out to them and saying, ALLAH has given you an extra Salaah which is better for you than the high bred camels, the Witar which ALLAH has appointed for you between the evening Salaah and the daybreak. [Tirmiz Abu, Dawud]

Hadrat Jabir (Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anha) reported ALLAH’s Messenger as saying, if anyone is afraid that he may not get up in the latter part of the night, he should observe a Witr in the first part of it, if anyone is eager to get up in the last part of it he should observe Witar at the end of the night, for Salaah at the end of night is attended by angels and that time is most excellent”. TAYUMMUM

Hadrat Jabir (Radi Allaahu Ta’ala Anhu) narrated that the Messenger of ALLAH (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) said: “The chief thing in tayammum is to strike the hand on (clean) ground, once for the face and and again for both the hands upto the elbows. [Mustadrak]

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) would not perform tayammum afresh for each Salaah. He did not even enjoin this either; he has made it a complete substitute for ablution. [Zadul Ma’ad]

Hadith Number Four

Hazrat Abu Hurairah R.A. reports that Rasulullah Sal’am said; ‘The Hajis and those who perform umrah are Allah’s deputation. When they pray to Him, He answers them, and when they seek His forgiveness, He forgives them.’

The Hajis and those enroute to perform umrah are a deputation with special duties towards Allah. In the same manner that we have deputation and delegations going to the courts of great men and rulers, these people go to present themselves at Allah’s house. And in the same manner that a delegation desires to be honored, these people are honored in Allah’s presence. According to one Hadith: ‘The delegation of Allah are of three kinds: ‘the fighters in His way, those who perform Haj and those who perform umrah.’ (Mishkaat)

Smiling

Hadrat Jabir (Radi Allaahu Ta’ala Anhu) narrated that the laughter of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) was just a smile. [Shamail-e-Tirmizi]

In fact he smiled only. On a matter which might make others laugh, he would only smile. [Zadul Ma’ad]

Abdullah bin Haris (Radi Allaahu Ta’ala Anhu) narrated that he did not see anyone else with a more smiling disposition than the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam). [Shamail-e-Tirmizi]

Hadrat Jabir (Radi Allaahu Ta’ala Anhu) narrated that whenever the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) saw him, he, the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) smiled (i.e. he met him with a pleasing and smiling disposition). [Shamail-e-Tirmizi]

Muslim reported in his Sahih that, “The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said,

“When the slave flee away (from his master), his/her prayer will not be accepted.” (Muslim)

The Prophet (pbuh) is also reported to have said,

“Any slave that flees away, the pledge of Islam is cleared from him.”( Muslim)

Ibn Khuzaimah reported in his Sahih from the hadith of Jabir who said, “The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said,

“There are three people whose prayer will not be accepted, nor will their good deeds be raised up to the sky, a fleeing slave until he returns to his master, a rebellious woman until her husband be satisfied with her and a drunkard until his mind is restored.

47) A Wife’s Rebellion Against Her Husband

Allah, Most High says,

{As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them first. Next refuse to share their beds and lastly beat them (lightly). If they return to obedience, seek not means against them (of annoyance); for Allah is Most High, great (above you all).} (An-Nisa’: 34)

The Prophet (pbuh) said,

Three grades of fasting

By Imam Ghazali

It should be known that there are three grades of fasting: ordinary, special and extra-special.

Ordinary fasting means abstaining from food, drink and sexual satisfaction.

Special fasting means keeping one’s ears, eyes, tongue, hands and feet-and all other organs-free from sin.

Extra-special fasting means fasting of the heart from unworthy concerns and worldly thoughts, in total disregard of everything but Allah.

Chapter 02 THE QUR’AN AND TAQLEED Part 1

“O you who believe, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you.” (4:59)

The ‘ulul amr’ (those in authority) are said by some to be the Muslim rulers and governors and by others to be the jurists. The second explanation is by Sayyidina Jabir ibn Abdullah, Abdullah ibn Abbas, Mujahid, Ata ibn Abu Rabah, Ata ibn as-Sa’ib, Hasan Basri, Abu al-Aaliyah and many others. Imam Razi has preferred this explanation citing many arguments.

He said:

“It is preferrable to apply the meaning ‘ulama to ulul amr’ in this verse.” (Tafseer Kabeer v3 p334)
