Allah likes his bondsmen to pray to Him. If a man, however beneficent he may be, is again and again asked for anything, he sooner or later loses his patience and becomes angry. But Allah, on the contrary, is, pleased the more his bondsmen ask him.

Intention is an alchemic prescription that can turn base dirt into noble gold. The hadith says “All actions depends upon intentions.” It is sometimes interpreted to mean that good intentions justify bad deeds too and turn sins meritorious. This is entirely wrong. Sin is always a sin no matter how noble the intention may be. For instance if someone breaks into a house to steal with the intention of giving away as alms whatever he would steal would be a thief deserving the prescribed punishment. This includes overbearing the weak, the male slave, the female slave, the wife and the beast. Allah, the Almighty ordered us to deal in kindness towards these varieties. He said,

{Serve Allah and join not any partners with Him, and do good to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, those in need, neighbors who are of kin, neighbors who are strangers, the companion by your side, the way-fairer( ye meet) and what your right hands possess: for Allah loveth not the arrogant, the vainglorious} (An-Nisa’: 36)

Concerning Allah’s saying,

Allah Most High says,

{O ye who believe! Cancel not your charity by reminders of your generosity or by injury.} (Al-Baqarah: 264)

Al- Wahdi commented on this verse by saying, “It is the one who reminds the recipients of his charity.”

Al-Kalbi said, “It is the one who counts his charity as a favor upon Allah and injures the recipients of it.”

Allah Most High says,

{O ye that believe! Betray not the trust of Allah and the Messenger, nor misappropriate knowingly things entrusted to you.} (Al-anfal: 27)

Al-Wahidi (may Allah bestow mercy on him) said, “This verse is revealed concerning Abu Lubabah who was sent by the Prophet (pbuh) to the Jews of Banu Quraizah during the siege of Muslims to their land. The Jews said to Abu Lubabah, these families are living among the Jews, what do you say concerning the submission to the judgment of sai’d. Abu Lubabah then pointed at his throat meaning that Sa’d would sentence you to be slaughtered. Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He, cautions us saying,

{And do not eat up your property among yourselves for vanities.} (Al-Baqarah: 188)

The verse means that Muslims are commanded by Allah to avoid taking the property of each other’s through illegal means. Abdullah Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said, “What is meant in the verse are the false oaths through which a person takes the property of another with no right.”

The consumption of Haram is of two kinds:

Allah, Most High says,

“O ye who believe! Intoxicants and gambling, sacrificing to stones and (divination by) arrows, is an abomination, of Satan’s handiwork: Eschew such (abomination) that ye may prosper. Satan’s plan is (but) to excite enmity and hatred between you, with intoxicants and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of Allah, and from Prayer: will ye not then abstain?” (Al-Ma’idah: 90-91)

Thus, Allah the Exalted forbids wine and warns us of approaching it.

The Prophet (pbuh) said,

“And when you are greeted with a greeting, greet in return with what is better than it, or (at least) return it equally.” (Qur’an, An-Nisa 4:86)

Human interaction is an important facet of any society. In Islam, proper relationships are stressed at all phases of interaction and the common greeting holds a special place in Islamic manners. Allah says in the Qur’an:

Allah says in the Qur’aan: “Truly, Allah guides not him who is a liar, and a disbeliever.” (Suratuz-Zumar 39:3)

Ibn Mas’ud (radhiallahu anhu) narrated from the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wasallam): “Truthfulness leads to righteousness and righteousness leads to Paradise. A man keeps on telling the truth until he is written with Allah as Siddiq (a truthful person). Kadhib (lying) leads to wickedness and wickedness leads to hell-fire.
