When the desire and passion of man is stirred-up due to various influencing factors, it ventures to search for the correct path for satisfaction. Instead of finding the door open, it finds it closed. Consequently, it chooses the corrupted and distorted paths. Here it finds the doors wide open.

The enemies of Allah Ta’ala have been successful to a considerable extent in achieving their objectives. “O you who believe! Remember Allah abundantly. And glorify Him morning and evening.” [Al-Ahzaab 33: 41, 42]

Allah, the most Exalted, is addressing the believers asserting: remember Allah morn and eve and every possible time in between. This, essentially, is a prescription for gilding the entire life of a believer; entailing one lone thing for scores of others. Thus the line of attack, to wipe out all weaknesses and stumbling blocks from a believer’s life is subsequently being specified by Allah in these few words: remember Allah abundantly.

Let me say a few words about the present English translation of the Ma’ariful-Qur’an.

Although a large number of English translations of the Holy Qur’an is available in the market, yet no comprehensive commentary of the Holy Qur’an has still appeared in the English language. Some brief footnotes found with some English translations cannot fulfil the need of a detailed co’mmentary. Besides, they are generally written by the people who did not specialize themselves in the Qur’anic sciences, and their explanatory notes do not often reflect the authentic interpretation of the Holy Qur’an. Some such notes are based on an arbitrary interpretation having no foundation in the recognized principles of the exegesis of the Holy Qur’an, and are thus misleading for a common reader.  Read more...
