Authenticity of the Source Materials and References

Care should be taken in the speeches and writings concerning the Jihad and only the virtues based on the Holy Quraan and the Revered Sunnah are to be stated. All the references ought to be watertight and authentic.

The Jihad is an obligation whose virtues are abundantly stated in the Holy Quraan and the Revered Sunnah. Yet a thorough and painstaking research must be carried out before any narration, quotation and event, in order to refute any false accusations of the non-Muslim, vehement opponent of the Jihad and to eliminate any attack upon the Jihad through this door.

Hadith Number Ten

Hazrat Jaabir R.A. reports that Rasulullah Sal’am said: “A Hajji never becomes poor and destitute.”

By the way of further elucidation, we quote another Hadith. Rasulullah Sal’am said: “performing Hajj and Umrah many time drives away poverty.” In another Hadith it is stated that: “Continuous Hajj and Umrah prevents a Muslim from leaving this life with a bad ending, and keeps away poverty.”

In one Hadith it is mentioned: “Perform Hajj and become rich, travel and become healthy.” In other words, change the air, places and weather, often bring about better health. This has been experienced time and again.

Hadith Number Two

Hazrat Abu Huraira R.A. reports that Rasulullah Salallaho Alaihi Wassallam) said: “Verily there shall be no reward for a righteous pilgrimage except Jannat”.

According to some ulama a “Mabroor Hajj” (a righteous Hajj) is such a pilgrimage during which no evil deed is committed. For this reason they speak of Hajj-e-Mabroor as a Maqbool Hajj (an accepted Hajj). By this they mean such a Hajj wherein the Hajee took note of each and every one of the Aadaab and Shuroot of Hajj while at the same time avoiding all faults.

His humor

Although an atmosphere of sobriety, seriousness and solemnity always prevailed in the assemblies of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) so much so that his noble Companions used to say: We sit in his company with such reverence and solemnity as if birds had perched on our heads and would fly away if we made even a slight movement. Yet flashes of the Prophet’s humor would keep the session agreeable, for if on the one hand, he would be preaching in keeping with the apostolic mission, on the other he would mix with his companions freely like an informal friend and a good humored fellow. While his assemblies had for the most part an atmosphere of a religious training centre and an institution of learning, they would sometimes turn for a little while into a gathering of witty but dignified and well mannered friends exchanging bits of humor and narrating every day affairs of home life. Briefly the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) and his companions would discuss matters freely among themselves. We have to find out as to what the nature of his humor had been. This elucidation is necessary as due to following incorrect line of action in many matters, our views have undergone a change. Our thinking has gone astray and we have lost moderation in all matters, when we make ourselves serious and grave, we go to such an extent as to shun all wit and humor and if we assume pleasing dispositions, we go to such an extreme as to abandon all decorum and etiquette. As such in the Noble example of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) we have the best standard for us to follow. He has himself clarified his own humor. “Do you cut jokes (with us)? Asked his companions. The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) said,”l say nothing but truth” [Shamail-e-Tirmizi]

1. GOOD INTENTION

Intention is an alchemic prescription that can turn base dirt into noble gold. The hadith says “All actions depends upon intentions.” It is sometimes interpreted to mean that good intentions justify bad deeds too and turn sins meritorious. This is entirely wrong. Sin is always a sin no matter how noble the intention may be. For instance if someone breaks into a house to steal with the intention of giving away as alms whatever he would steal would be a thief deserving the prescribed punishment. His good intentions would not earn him any merit nor would his sin be pardoned.

Ayah 3: Further elucidation.

Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered prophet whom they find written down with them in the Taurat and the lnjil; he biddeth them to the seemly and prohibiteth unto them the unseemly, alloweth unto them things clean and forbiddeth unto them things unclean and relieveth them of their burden and shackles which have been upon them. So those who believe in him and side with him and succour him and follow the light which hath been sent down with him; those; they shall fare well. (7/157)
