Many people not only ask for their needs of the Auliyaa, they also take vows on their names, by saying that if a certain need of theirs is fulfilled, then they will place a new chadar on the grave of the Wali, or that they will give a certain amount of money. In this regard it is necessary to familiarise yourself with a few Masaa`il.

1. A person’s saying that a certain amount of money or wealth will go to a certain person or for a certain cause after his death is known as wasîyyah. This is irrespective of whether he said this while he was enjoying good health or while he was ill, and irrespective of whether he passes away as a result of this sickness or he recovers from it. The rule with regard to the wealth which he gives with his own hands or forgives the debts that he is being owed is that if he gives this while he is enjoying good health or he recovers from the sickness in which he gave this, it is permissible for him to do this and this is valid. Hazrat Jaabir R.A. reports: “Verily Allah causes three people to enter into Paradise through one Hajj; The deceased, (on whose behalf this Hajj is being performed) the Haaji performing it and he (the heir or others) who makes possible its performance (by financial aid).”
Rasulullah (Salallaho Alaihi Wassallam) has said that when a person performs Hajj on behalf of another, he gets the same reward as the one whose behalf it is being performed. (Kanz)

Fidyah is the compensation which has to be paid for the Saum which has not been executed on account of permanent disability, etc.
(1) The Fidyah amount for each compulsory fast not kept is the same as Sadqah Fitr, viz. 2kg bread flour or its cash equivalent or feeding a miskeen (poor person) two full meals for a day.
(2) Unlike Kaffarah, it is permissible to distribute the Fidyah amount among several masakeen (poor persons).
