How To Wear Ihram

When you intend to wear ‘Ihram’ you should at first take a bath though only making an ablution (Wudhu) will also suffice. It is Sunnat (Tradition of the Holy Prophet) before bath or Wudhu to have the nails pruned, to lower down the moustaches by trimming, to undershave, to shave the armpits and to have a hair cut or shaven if it has been usual ; otherwise to comb the long grown hair. For ‘Ihram’ It is Sunnat to comprise of two sheets of cloth, new or used but washed. One sheet should be used as a loin-cloth and the other as an upper cover. The sheets of black or any other colour are also permissible. When it is cold, blankets or towels can also be used.

His shirt

Mulla Ali Qari narrated on the authority of Dimyat that the shirt of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) was made of cotton. It was not long and its sleeves were not long either. Bijur has written that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) had only one shirt. Hadrat Aishah (Radi Allaahu Ta’ala Anha) has related that it was not the Holy Prophet’s (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) custom to retain some thing from the morning meal for the evening or from the evening meal for the next morning. He did not have more than one of any item of dress- shirt, wrap, tahband (lower garment) or sandals. Munawi has related on the authority of Hadrat Abbas (Radi Allaahu Ta’ala Anhu) that neither the Prophet’s (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) shirt was too long nor its sleeves were long. In other traditions it has been related on the authority of Hadrat lbn Abbas that his shirt was usually above the ankles. [Shamail-e-Tarmizi, Khasail-e-Nabawi]

IZAR BELOW THE ANKLES

Izar is defined in Arabic to be any lower garment tied to the waist covering the lower half of the body. It includes shalwar, pants, dhooti, pajamas, thawb, etc. In hadith the Prophet divided the length of the izar into four categories:

(1) The Sunna is upto half of the shins.

(2) The rukhsa (concession) is below half the shins till the ankles.

(3) The haraam and a kabira sin are letting it go below the ankles without pride.

(4) Even stronger in prohibition and punishment is dragging or trailing below the ankles out of pride

The 15th of Shabaan (Shabe Baraat)

The virtue of this night established from Ahadith is that from the very beginning of the night Allah Ta’ ala turns with special mercy and attention towards the creation and forgives those who repent and seeks forgiveness. Every Muslim should therefore value this night. Turn towards Allah Ta’ ala with sincere regret and shame over sins committed and make a promise never to return to sin again and seek forgiveness from Allah Ta’ala. Seek forgiveness for oneself and all Muslims, living and deceased. Have firm hope and resolution in the heart that Allah Ta’ ala will surely show mercy and forgiveness.

While saying Allahu Akbar, raise both the hands upto the shoulders.
However, one should not take out the hands out of the headgear or scarf (or
