Some Instruction about Salaah

1. Hadrat Umar (Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhu) narrated ALLAH’s Messenger as saying, Should anyone falls asleep and fails to the perform supplication such as prayers which he normally made in the night, if he performs it between the dawn and the noon Salaah (Zuhar Salaah) it will be recorded for him as though he had recited it during the night. [Muslim]

2. Bismillah should be said if a (complete) surah is recited after surah al-Fatihah in the Salaah and if only a ruku (part of a surah) is recited, Bismillah need not be said. [Bahishti Zewar]

Hadith Number Ten

Hazrat Ibn Abbaas R.A. reports that Rasulullah Sal’am said to Makkah: “What a wonderful city you are and how I love you. Had my people not forced me out of you, I would never have settled in any other city save you.”

As a result of the contents of this hadith as well as those expounding the increased reward for righteous deeds in Makkah, the majority of ulama believe that Makkah is the most virtuous (afdhal) of all towns, and to stay there permanently or in a temporary as capacity, is most virtuous. Who would not like to be able to settle there when one salaat is rewarded one hundred thousand times? Yet in spite of all this many of our saintly elders did not advocate residence in Makkah (for longer than necessary).

Chapter 09 DOUBTS & OBJECTIONS ON TAQLEED Part 11

Imam Abu Hanifah & Knowledge of Hadith

(11) He is also accused of having few Ahadith, or a weak knowledge of Hadith.

This baseless accusation follows from lack of proper knowledge and prejudice. In fact, great scholars agreed that he was excellent in the science of fiqh and the science of Hadith too. They are not only the Hanafi ulama but also ulama of other schools of thought. We present remarks of some of them.

Chapter 09 DOUBTS & OBJECTIONS ON TAQLEED Part 10

Hanafis & Observance of Hadith

(10) It is also argued that the Hanafis rely on weak Ahadith. But, this is wrong. The correct answer is that their books must be examined to find out the truth. The following are some of those books.

  • Sharah Ma’ani al-Aathar, (Tahawi)
  • Fath al-Qadeer, (Ibn Numan)
  • Nasb ar Rayah, (Zayl’ee)
  • Al-Jawhar an Naqi, (Mardini)
  • Umdatul Qari, (Ayni)
  • Fath alMulhim, (Uthmani)
  • Bazlal Jamhud, (Saharanpuri)
  • Ala us Sunan, (Zafar Ahmad Uthmani)
  • Ma’arifus-Sunan, (Binnori)
  • Fayd ul-Bari, Sharah Saheeh Bukhari

Nevertheless, we do point out some basic points in brief.

Life and Times of Imam Abu Hanifa

One day a man came to the Imam and said: “I kept some money somewhere in my house, but do not remember exactly here. I now need the money badly. Please tell me how I can find it.” Brother,” protested the Imam, “do not find this kind of problem mentioned in fiqh. Why have you come to me for advice?” but on further entreaty by the man he advised him to pray throughout the night. The man, accordingly, went home and started praying, he had prayed for a little while when he suddenly remembered where he had put the money. So he ran to the Imam and told him of the efficacy of his advice.
