091 The Sun (Rukuh 01) (Ayats 01-15)

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

With the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful.

وَالشَّمْسِ وَضُحَاهَا (1)

[91:1] I swear by the sun and his broad light,

وَالْقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلاهَا (2)

[91:2] and by the moon when she follows him,

وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلاَّهَا (3)

[91:3] and by the day when it shows his brightness,

وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَاهَا (4)

[91:4] and by the night when it envelops him,

وَالسَّمَاءِ وَمَا بَنَاهَا (5)

092 The Night (Rukuh 01) (Ayats 01-21)

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

With the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful.

وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَى (1)

[92:1] I swear by the night when it covers (the sun),

وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّى (2)

[92:2] and by the day when it unveils itself,

وَمَا خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَالأُنْثَى (3)

[92:3] and by the One who created the male and the female,

إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّى (4)

093 The Morning Hours (Rukuh 01) (Ayats 01-11)

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

With the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful.

وَالضُّحَى (1)

[93:1] I swear by the forenoon,

وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا سَجَى (2)

[93:2] and by the night when it becomes peaceful,

مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَى (3)

[93:3] your Lord (O Prophet,) has neither forsaken you, nor has become displeased.

وَلَلآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لَكَ مِنْ الأُولَى (4)

[93:4] Surely the Hereafter is much better for you than the present life.

094 Solace (Rukuh 01) (Ayats 01-08)

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

With the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful.

أَلَمْ نَشْرَحْ لَكَ صَدْرَكَ (1)

[94:1] Have We not caused your bosom to be wide open for you?

وَوَضَعْنَا عَنكَ وِزْرَكَ (2)

[94:2] And We removed from you your burden

الَّذِي أَنقَضَ ظَهْرَكَ (3)

[94:3] that had (almost) broken your back,

وَرَفَعْنَا لَكَ ذِكْرَكَ (4)

[94:4] and We raised high your name.

فَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْراً (5)

[94:5] So, undoubtedly, along with the hardship there is ease.

095 The Fig (Rukuh 01) (Ayats 01-08)

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

With the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful.

وَالتِّينِ وَالزَّيْتُونِ (1)

[95:1] I swear by the Fig and the Olive,

وَطُورِ سِينِينَ (2)

[95:2] and by Tūr, the mount of Sinai,

وَهَذَا الْبَلَدِ الأَمِينِ (3)

[95:3] and by this peaceful city,

لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الإِنسَانَ فِي أَحْسَنِ تَقْوِيمٍ (4)

[95:4] We have created man in the best composition,

ثُمَّ رَدَدْنَاهُ أَسْفَلَ سَافِلِينَ (5)

[95:5] then We turned him into the lowest of the low,

إِلاَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فَلَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ (6)

096 The Clot (Rukuh 01) (Ayats 01-19)

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

With the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful.

اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ (1)

[96:1] Read with the name of your Lord who created (every thing),

خَلَقَ الإِنسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ (2)

[96:2] He created man from a clot of blood.

اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الأَكْرَمُ (3)

[96:3] Read, and your Lord is the most gracious,

الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ (4)

[96:4] who imparted knowledge by means of the pen.

عَلَّمَ الإِنسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ (5)

[96:5] He taught man what he did not know.

097 Power (Rukuh 01) (Ayats 01-05)

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

With the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful.

إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ (1)

[97:1] We have sent it (the Qur‘ān) down in the Night of Qadr.

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ (2)

[97:2] And what may let you know what the Night of Qadr is?

لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ (3)

[97:3] The Night of Qadr is much better than one thousand months.

تَنَزَّلُ الْمَلائِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ فِيهَا بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِمْ مِنْ كُلِّ أَمْرٍ (4)

098 The Clear Proof (Rukuh 01) (Ayats 01-08)

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

With the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful.

لَمْ يَكُنْ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ وَالْمُشْرِكِينَ مُنفَكِّينَ حَتَّى تَأْتِيَهُمْ الْبَيِّنَةُ (1)

[98:1] Those who disbelieved from among the People of the Book and the polytheists were not (expected) to desist (from their wrong beliefs) unless there comes to them a clear proof,

رَسُولٌ مِنْ اللَّهِ يَتْلُوا صُحُفاً مُطَهَّرَةً (2)

[98:2] a messenger from Allah who recites the purified scrolls

فِيهَا كُتُبٌ قَيِّمَةٌ (3)

[98:3] containing (right and) straight writings.

099 The Earthquake (Rukuh 01) (Ayats 01-08)

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

With the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful.

إِذَا زُلْزِلَتْ الأَرْضُ زِلْزَالَهَا (1)

[99:1] When the earth will be trembled with its quake,

وَأَخْرَجَتْ الأَرْضُ أَثْقَالَهَا (2)

[99:2] and the earth will bring forth its burdens,

وَقَالَ الإِنسَانُ مَا لَهَا (3)

[99:3] and man will say, “What has happened to it?”

يَوْمَئِذٍ تُحَدِّثُ أَخْبَارَهَا (4)

[99:4] That day it will describe all its happenings,

بِأَنَّ رَبَّكَ أَوْحَى لَهَا (5)

[99:5] because its Lord will have so commanded it.

The Coursers (Rukuh 01) (Ayats 01-11)

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

With the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful.

وَالْعَادِيَاتِ ضَبْحاً (1)

[100:1] (I swear) by those (horses) that run snorting,

فَالْمُورِيَاتِ قَدْحاً (2)

[100:2] then those that create sparks by striking (their hoofs) on the stones,

فَالْمُغِيرَاتِ صُبْحاً (3)

[100:3] then those that invade at morning,

فَأَثَرْنَ بِهِ نَقْعاً (4)

[100:4] then raise, at the same time, a trail of dust,

فَوَسَطْنَ بِهِ جَمْعاً (5)

[100:5] then enter, at the same time, into the centre of the (opposing) host,
