48) Picture making

This applies to pictures on clothes, walls, stones, coins and all things whether they are made from wax, pastes, steel, copper, wool or otherwise.

Allah, the Almighty said,

{Those who annoy Allah and His Messenger-Allah has cursed them in this world and in the Hereafter, and has prepared for them a humiliating punishment.} (Al-Ahzab: 57)

‘Ikrimah said, what is meant by “Those who annoy Allah and His Messenger are picture-makers. On the authority of Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), “The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said,

47) A Wife’s Rebellion Against Her Husband

Allah, Most High says,

{As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them first. Next refuse to share their beds and lastly beat them (lightly). If they return to obedience, seek not means against them (of annoyance); for Allah is Most High, great (above you all).} (An-Nisa’: 34)

The Prophet (pbuh) said,

When a man calls his wife to his bed and she does not come, if he spends the night angry with her, the angels curse her until morning.” (Bukhari and Muslim)

Another version from Al-Bukhari and Muslim is,

46) Believing Fortunetellers and Astrologers

Allah, Most High says,

{And pursue not that of which thou hast no knowledge, for surely the hearing, the sight, the learnt all of those shall be questioned of.}

(Al-Isra’: 36)

Elaborating on the above Ayah Al-Wahidi reported Al-Kalbi’s commentary that idle curiosity and undocumented reports are condemned. Al-Wahidi said, we should be called to accounted for the exercise of every faculty that has been given to us.

{He (alone) knows the Unseen, nor does He make anyone acquainted with his secrets. Except a Messenger whom he has chosen.} (Al-Jin: 26)

084 The Sundering (Rukuh 01, Ayats 01-25)

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

With the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful.

إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انشَقَّتْ (1)

[84:1] When the sky will split apart,

وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ (2)

[84:2] and will listen to (the command of) its Lord,__ and it ought to,__

وَإِذَا الأَرْضُ مُدَّتْ (3)

[84:3] and when the earth will be stretched (to give room to more people),

وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ (4)

45) Breaking One’s Promise Or Pledge

Allah, Most High, says,

{And fulfill (every) engagement, for (every) engagement will be enquired into on the day of reckoning} (Al-Isra: 34)

{O ye who believe! Fulfill (all) obligations?} (Al-Ma’idah: 1)

Az-Zajjaj said engagements include all what Allah commands or forbids. Al-Wahidi also said obligations include what Allah made lawful or unlawful in the Qur’an. Muqatil Ibn Hayyan added, it is also included the covenants held among Muslims or between Muslim and non-Muslims.

085 The Mansions of the Stars (Rukuh 01, Ayats 01-22)

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

With the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful.

وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الْبُرُوجِ (1)

[85:1] I swear by the sky, the one having stellar formations,

وَالْيَوْمِ الْمَوْعُودِ (2)

[85:2] and by the Promised Day,

وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ (3)

[85:3] and by that which attends, and that which is attended,

قُتِلَ أَصْحَابُ الأُخْدُودِ (4)

[85:4] cursed were the People of the Trench,

086 The Morning Star (Rukuh 01, Ayats 01-17)

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

With the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful.

وَالسَّمَاءِ وَالطَّارِقِ (1)

[86:1] I swear by the sky and by the Night-Comer,__

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الطَّارِقُ (2)

[86:2] __and what may let you know what the Night-Comer is?

النَّجْمُ الثَّاقِبُ (3)

[86:3] The star of piercing brightness!_ _

إِنْ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ لَمَّا عَلَيْهَا حَافِظٌ (4)

[86:4] __there is no human being, but there is a watcher over him.

فَلْيَنظُرْ الإِنسَانُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ (5)

[86:5] So, let man consider of which stuff he is created.

087 The Most High (Rukuh 01, Ayats 01-19)

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

With the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful.

سَبِّحْ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الأَعْلَى (1)

[87:1] Pronounce the purity of the name of your most exalted Lord,

الَّذِي خَلَقَ فَسَوَّى (2)

[87:2] who created (everything), then made (it) well,

وَالَّذِي قَدَّرَ فَهَدَى (3)

[87:3] and who determined a measure (for everything), then guided (it),

وَالَّذِي أَخْرَجَ الْمَرْعَى (4)

[87:4] and who brought forth pasturage,

فَجَعَلَهُ غُثَاءً أَحْوَى (5)

[87:5] then turned it into a blackening stubble.

سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلا تَنسَى (6)

44) Cursing Others

The Prophet (pbuh) said,

“Insulting a Muslim is an act of immorality and fighting him is an act of disbelief.” (Bukhari)

He (pbuh) also said,

“Cursing a believer is like killing him.” (Bukhari)

Muslim narrated in his Sahih the following hadith that states,

“Those who indulge in cursing others will not be intercessors or witnesses on the Day of Judgment.”

Another hadith states,

“It is not the character of a believer to indulge in slandering, cursing, or immoral talk.” (Tirmdhi)

The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said,

43) The Talebearer Who Stirs up Enmity between People

Here, the reference is to a person who passes on to others what he hears from someone in such a manner that will cause dissension among people. It is unanimously unlawful according to the opinions of the Muslim scholars. There are many proofs that maintain the prohibition of that abhorred action. The following are some of them:

The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said,

“He who stirs up enmity among people by quoting their words to each other will not enter paradise.” (Bukhari and Muslim)

Once the Messengers of Allah (pbuh) passed by two graves and said,
