بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

With the name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Very-Merciful.

وَالسَّمَاءِ وَالطَّارِقِ (1)

[86:1] I swear by the sky and by the Night-Comer,__

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الطَّارِقُ (2)

[86:2] __and what may let you know what the Night-Comer is?

النَّجْمُ الثَّاقِبُ (3)

[86:3] The star of piercing brightness!_ _

إِنْ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ لَمَّا عَلَيْهَا حَافِظٌ (4)

[86:4] __there is no human being, but there is a watcher over him.

فَلْيَنظُرْ الإِنسَانُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ (5)

[86:5] So, let man consider of which stuff he is created.

خُلِقَ مِنْ مَاءٍ دَافِقٍ (6)

[86:6] He is created of spouting water

يَخْرُجُ مِنْ بَيْنِ الصُّلْبِ وَالتَّرَائِبِ (7)

[86:7] that comes out from between the loins and the chest-bones.

إِنَّهُ عَلَى رَجْعِهِ لَقَادِرٌ (8)

[86:8] Surely He is Powerful to bring him back

يَوْمَ تُبْلَى السَّرَائِرُ (9)

[86:9] on a day when all the secrets will be searched out,

فَمَا لَهُ مِنْ قُوَّةٍ وَلا نَاصِرٍ (10)

[86:10] and he will have neither strength (to defend), nor a supporter.

وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الرَّجْعِ (11)

[86:11] I swear by the sky that rains,

وَالأَرْضِ ذَاتِ الصَّدْعِ (12)

[86:12] and the earth that cracks open (for plants),

إِنَّهُ لَقَوْلٌ فَصْلٌ (13)

[86:13] this is a decisive word,

وَمَا هُوَ بِالْهَزْلِ (14)

[86:14] and it is not a joke.

إِنَّهُمْ يَكِيدُونَ كَيْداً (15)

[86:15] They are devising plans,

وَأَكِيدُ كَيْداً (16)

[86:16] and I Am devising plans.

فَمَهِّلْ الْكَافِرِينَ أَمْهِلْهُمْ رُوَيْداً (17)

[86:17] So leave the disbelievers alone at the moment; give them respite for a while.
